Get To Know Your Blogger…

Hello readers! Welcome to my corner of the internet. I hope you are doing well! So glad you are here and let this be your official welcome to the new Brooke’s Space website. Today I am sharing with you a closer look at the face behind Brooke’s Space. The creator, dreamer and woman behind the blog and company. So let’s grab a coffee and begin!

What inspired you to start your business?

When I first started my business, before I became a mother I was in nursing school looking to just make a little money on the side. So I started baking. After becoming a mother I realized I didn’t want to send my son to daycare and wanted to homeschool him. In the beginning my only inspiration was making a little extra money. Now my inspiration comes from my goal to continue to homeschool my child and future children while inspiring other mothers to do the same.

What skills have helped you the most?

I have to say with running a multi-faceted business, you have to be able to shift quickly and quite frequently from task to task. One moment I am designing a home and the next I am writing a blog post or baking or writing for a client. I find excitement in going from task to task. With managing multiple projects at once I have to make confident decisions quickly and maintain professional even under pressure. My creativity has also helped me so much between the content creation, the decorating and designing of homes, and the creativity in my business and my team has made my brand unique.

What was the moment that made you feel, “ Okay, This is actually happening”?

I have had this moment a few times over the past two years. One moment, two years ago when I started to slowly shift my business into a multi-faceted company and began my blog. When my clientele in San Diego grew from a few of my friends to people in my community and from there to people that I didn’t know. My blog grew from just a few people reading per week to hundreds and it continues to grow daily. Over the past year I have moved back to my small town and being recognized for my business and my social media by strangers has felt rewarding because of the time and dedication I have put into my company.

What’s the bigger mission behind your brand?

My mission has always evolved around being able to help others. Over this past year I became a single mom and it has shifted my perspective on many things in my life including my business and how I manage my work life and home life. My mission has evolved into helping others and let mothers continue to work while being actively in their child’s life.

What does a day in your life actually look like?

Working from home my days are quite busy. I balance my son’s schedule a long with my work schedule and we are camper living! So we spend quite a bit of time outdoors and enjoying nature! The best part of my job is being able to take work with me no matter where I go. It’s rewarding to not be constricted to one work space for the entirety of the day. We spend a lot of time at the playground’s or with family and I spend most of my time making content as well!

What’s the most important habit for staying consistent?

I feel the most important habit for staying consistent is staying disciplined. Without self-discipline you can not succeed. You need to be disciplined in your routine, decision making, and other habits that you form. Without the discipline you stay a dreamer instead of an executor. Having a positive mindset is as equally important as discipline. You can not be an entrepreneur with a negative mindset. If I stayed in my negative mindset throughout the start of my career as an entrepreneur I wouldn’t be where I am today.

How do you handle setbacks or burn-out?

When I begin to feel like I’m burnt out, to be quite honest with you I push through it. I do take a little bit of time to do self-care for myself but I don’t dwell in my burn-out. I take a bit of time to take care of myself but I also take pleasure in what I do. I enjoy my work and helping clients. When it comes to setbacks as an entrepreneur it’s very important to have a positive mindset. I always look towards the brighter side and don’t dwell in the negativity.

What’s a big goal you haven’t shared publicly yet?

Growing my business across the country is one of my biggest goals. Will it take time? Absolutely! It is something I will never give up on because I want to be a source of inspiration for other entrepreneurial women and CEO’s to stand up for working families and to build and set new trends within our country so that mothers can still be with their families while they work.

Are you more of a planner or a spontaneous creator?

I am a planner. I have every detail of my day planned out to a T. As someone with autism I don’t like sudden changes in my schedule and prefer everything to be scheduled out in advance. It helps me focus on my content and work knowing everything has already been put on a schedule.

How do you stay inspired when life gets hectic?

This may sound crazy but my social media algorithm keeps me inspired. If you know me through social media, you know a majority of the day you see me sharing content. I stay up to date on every trend and everything happening around me. Sometimes a little more than I should but these other entrepreneurs that I follow inspire me everyday to push myself more and do better. Especially Andrew Tate. If you know Andrew he is very intense and daily I listen to his messages when I feel uninspired or need motivation to push forward. If you don’t know him and you are an entrepreneur follow him on social media. He’s

Where do you see your blog and business within the next year?

Within the next year, our goal is to get this new website expanded and seen across the country, designing and decorating homes across the eastern shore for families in need, and sharing my message with other single moms and struggling families to inspire them and show them that they can lead and inspire and get through their hardships!

What is your “ Entrepreneur guilty pleasure” (Like buying planners you never use)?

This one is actually quite funny. I have a tendency of buying extra products I may need in the future and never using them. I will say that I will keep something for future use and almost certainly never do. Haha. It happens quite often and on the crafting side of my business, the craft stores are my downfall. I can never be trusted in there or on Amazon. Haha.

Where do you get your ideas from?

Most of my ideas just come to me throughout my times at the park with my son, out in nature, or my morning coffee. There has never been a time where I have gotten an idea while working. It is always on my down time and while I am away from my phone. I also always welcome my employees, friends, and family to share ideas if they ever have any and it has greatly helped and continues to help Brooke’s Space evolve.

What legacy do you want your brand to leave?

I just want my company to be known for helping those who truly need it most. I’m not trying to be a designer/decorator for wealthy renowned families. I want to give light to homes of hardworking families who deserve to love the spaces they live in. In the aspect of my employees, I want to make them come to work with their children and know that we are all in this journey together and deserve the right to be able to work from the comforts of our home or office and still be able to raise our family. No matter what I want to help everyone I can with all of my services of my company.

What keeps you motivated on the days when things get tough?

My son is my main source of motivation throughout everything I do. Every morning he sits with me while I work and he does his school work. He drinks a cup of hot chocolate while I drink my coffee and he has a wooden laptop and phone. He pretends to take calls and types his ABC’s. It motivates me to work harder knowing that I am his example and he follows my lead in everything I do.

What significant challenges have you faced in your business and how did you address them?

There have been significant challenges within my company and some we still face today. I have to say a few of the hardest has been funding especially in the beginning of my journey with Brooke’s Space. Another has to be inflation. Being in the design field throughout this economical shift has been quite challenging. It’s more challenging than ever to find clients. Last I would have to say is our social media presence. It is something we are working on but it is a continued struggle that we are facing. With each issue it is addressed in our weekly zoom call meetings. Due to having most of my team members working on the west coast zoom meetings are the only way we can have these meetings to address challenges. Having a strong team of other women has been a blessing as we all face motherhood together and work on making Brooke’s Space a renowned company.

How do you envision your brand evolving over the next several years?

I want Brooke’s Space to evolve into an inspirational business for other companies and to be able to grow my team with more women and mother’s. While still letting my team be able to work from the comforts of their home while spending time with their families. I would like to grow my company into multiple physical locations over the next several years and offer more services to cater to families. My largest goal for my physical locations is to have the open space for children to be with their mothers while they work.
